Vriddhagiriswarar Temple in Vriddhachalam is one of the ancient Paadal Petra Sthalams of Shiva. Rebuilt in solid granite by the Chola queen Sembiyan Mahadevi in the 10th century, the massive temple complex covers over 10 acres with 5 majestic gopurams and over 240 ancient inscriptions.
