About TheTemplesOfIndia
Building India's most comprehensive digital archive for ancient stone architecture, rock-cut monuments, and sacred temple heritage.
Preserving Sacred Architecture
The Indian subcontinent houses thousands of breathtaking stone temples constructed between the 6th and 14th centuries CE under dynasties like the Solankis, Paramaras, Hoysalas, Kalyani Chalukya, Cholas, Rashtrakutas, Chandelas, and Gurjara-Pratiharas. Many of these monuments are tucked away in distant districts, awaiting documentation.
TheTemplesOfIndia is a community-first digital initiative created to catalog, map, and document these architectural wonders with high-resolution photography, precise geographical coordinates, structural taxonomy, and historical context.
