About

Rukmini Devi Temple, Dwarka is a 12th-century Chalukya-style stone temple dedicated to Rukmini — the principal queen and consort of Lord Krishna. Located about 2 km from the main Dwarkadhish Temple, legend says Rukmini was separated from Krishna due to a curse by the sage Durvasa after she stopped her chariot prematurely to drink water, and she continues to reside separately here.

The temple features a finely carved stone exterior with multiple friezes of celestial figures, miniature turrets, and a well-preserved shikhara in the Chalukya tradition. The outer walls bear intricate carvings of Rukmini in various domestic and divine scenes. Significant stone restoration work was undertaken in the 19th-20th centuries. As part of the Dwarka pilgrimage circuit (Char Dham), this temple is visited by all pilgrims to Dwarka.
