About
Radha Madhab Temple is an elegant 18th-century Eka-Ratna laterite stone temple located near Lal Bandh in Bishnupur, Bankura district. Commissioned in 1737 CE by Churamoni Devi, wife of Malla Crown Prince Krishna Singha (son of King Gopal Singha), the temple features a square plan with three-arched portico entrances and a central sikhara tower over a curved roof. Built entirely of laterite blocks coated with lime plaster, the facade displays low-relief relief carvings of Vishnu's ten avatars (Dasavatara), puranic deities, rows of birds, and traditional lotus motifs. The complex includes a small detached Do-Chala brick shrine (bhog-mandapa) and is an ASI-protected site.
