About
Pratapswamin Temple is an 11th-century stone temple complex situated in Tapper Waripora near Pattan in Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir. Attributed to King Pratapaditya or medieval Lohara rulers, the temple was dedicated to Lord Vishnu as Pratapaswamin. Constructed of large ashlar limestone blocks, the complex consists of a central square sanctum, a portico, and four smaller subsidiary stone shrines located at the corners of a peristyle courtyard. Archaeological excavations by the ASI revealed carved stone images of Vishnu, fluted pillars, and trefoil arches. It is a Monument of National Importance under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
