About
The Nachna Hindu temples represent some of the earliest surviving stone temples in Central India. The Parvati Temple (dating to the late 5th century Gupta era) is among the oldest known temples with a two-storey sanctuary and simulated rock-carving motifs on its outer plinth, along with perforated stone jali windows depicting musicians and dwarf ganas. Nearby stands the 8th-century Chaumukhnath Temple dedicated to Shiva, celebrated for its sublime four-faced Chaturmukha Linga showcasing exceptional classical Indian sculptural finesse.
