About
Mandaikadu Bhagavathi Amman Temple, located near Colachel on the western coast of Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu, is a renowned seaside shrine widely revered as the 'Women's Sabarimala'. Dedicated to Goddess Parvati as Bhagavathi Amman, female pilgrims undertake a 41-day vow carrying sacred irumudi bundles during the annual 10-day Maasi Kodai festival. The sanctum deity is a naturally growing 15-foot-tall sacred anthill (valmikam) with a Srichakra consecrated at its base by Adi Shankaracharya. The architecture reflects traditional Kerala-Dravidian wooden and stone style under the former Travancore Kingdom. It is managed by HR&CE.
