About
Situated directly on the south bank of the Narmada River facing the island of Mandhata, Mamleshwar (historically Amareshwar) is regarded in scriptural tradition as the essential counterpart to Omkareshwar, forming the twin Jyotirlinga manifestation of Lord Shiva. The temple core dates to the 10th–11th century Paramara era, featuring a stone hall supported by 22 ornately carved pillars with Mahimna Stotra inscriptions dating back to 1063 CE, later renovated with devotion by Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar.
