About
Built around 1622 CE by King Bir Singh Deo and extensively renovated in 1793 by Prithvi Singh, the Lakshmi Temple at Orchha is a unique blend of military fortress architecture and spiritual sanctuary. Built on a striking triangular floor plan with crenellated octagonal corner towers, its interior galleries and domed ceilings house Central India's finest 17th-century Bundela wall paintings and frescoes, portraying scenes from the Ramayana, Bhagavata Purana, royal durbars, and the 1857 war of independence.
