About

Krimchi Temples, locally known as the Pandava Temples, is a historic complex of seven ancient stone temples located in Krimchi village, 12 km from Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir. Built between the 8th and 12th centuries CE along the banks of the Birunala stream, the complex represents one of the finest architectural monuments in the Jammu region. Built of red sandstone blocks, the temples feature curvilinear sikhara towers reflecting a fusion of classical Kashmiri architecture with North Indian Nagara conventions. The largest shrine (Temple No. 3) stands over 50 feet high and features elaborate stone moldings, kalash finials, and vestibule arches. According to local folklore, the Pandavas rested here during their exile. It is an ASI-protected Monument of National Importance.
