Kalugumalai Rock-cut Jain Complex & Vettuvan Koil

The Kalugumalai Rock-cut Complex in Thoothukudi district contains over 150 rock-cut Jain reliefs, Tirthankara sculptures, and ancient Brahmi inscriptions alongside the unfinished monolithic Vettuvan Koil Shiva temple. Created under the patronage of Early Pandya king Parantaka Nedunjhadaiyan in the 8th century, it is an outstanding example of South Indian rock-cut art.
