About
Birla Mandir, Kolkata is a magnificent white marble temple dedicated to Radha-Krishna, completed in 1996 on the Ashutosh Chowdhury Avenue after 26 years of construction. Built by the Birla family (B.K. Birla group), it represents one of the finest examples of modern marble temple architecture in Eastern India.
The temple blends Nagara architecture with subtle Indo-Islamic decorative accents, featuring intricate marble lattice screens, carved friezes, and three tapering shikharas. The complex also includes shrines to Shiva and Ganesha, a natya mandapa for cultural performances, and a meditation hall. Situated in the heart of South Kolkata, it is a beloved landmark and spiritual retreat.
