About
Hari Hara Temple, popularly known as Mahabilvakeshwar Temple, is an ancient 10th to 11th-century stone temple located in Billawar town, Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir. Built during the reign of the local Pal rulers of Vallapura (ancient Billawar), the temple stands on a high stone platform consisting of a garbhagriha, antarala, and mandapa. Constructed of massive carved stone blocks, the sikhara tower displays curvilinear Nagara spires decorated with chaitya-window motifs and stone kalash. The temple sanctum houses a historic Shiva Lingam worshipped alongside images of Harihara (Vishnu-Shiva composite). It is an ASI-protected Monument of National Importance.
