About
BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, Sarangpur in Botad district is one of the most important pilgrimage sites of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, dedicated to the form of Hanumanji known as Kastbhanjan Dev — the remover of all distresses. The original temple was established in the 19th century; the current grand marble complex was completed in 1998.
The temple features 66 shikhars rising from a stunning white marble structure, with intricate carvings of Hanumanji in various postures. The deity Kastbhanjan Dev — a unique Gujarati folk tradition of Hanuman worship — is believed to cure possession and mental ailments. Tens of thousands of devotees queue weekly to touch the deity's feet, and the mandir complex includes large dharamshalas capable of housing 20,000 pilgrims simultaneously.
