About

The 9th-to-10th-century Bajramath Temple in Gyaraspur is a rare surviving example of a 'trikuta' or triple-shrined temple in Central India. The central shrine was originally dedicated to Surya (the Sun God), flanked by Shiva and Vishnu shrines on either side, all sharing a common mandapa. In later centuries, the shrines were consecrated with images of Digambara Jain Tirthankaras. The outer walls retain rich decorative bands of celestial damsels, dikpalas, and intricate geometric foliage.
